Hello all! I am so thrilled to be a teacher at Old Fort Elementary School! I have been in the McDowell County School System since 1998. I have had many roles throughout the years. I have been a substitute, an assistant, a bus driver and a teacher. In 2004, I obtained my degree from Mars Hill College and have taught grades first thru fourth since then. Currently, I am back at Mars Hill working on my Master's degree. I have been at Old Fort since 2017. Before that, I was with the wonderful people of North Cove Elementary School.
My family is changing so quickly. I have a step-son who is married and blessed me with two grandchildren. His brother recently had a son. My daughter is in college to become a teacher and recently got married. Unfortunately, I am not allowed to have pets where I live, so I have gran-dogs. My friends and family have dogs so, I get to play whenever I see them. I attend Turkey Cove Baptist Church and love singing in the choir.
McDowell County is a special place that truly cares about it's community, especially the kids. I am so thankful to get the opportunity to teach and to be a part of so many lives. I am blessed!
